We were contracted by a plant-based protein startup through a referral. They had a great vision using sustainable practices and needed some guidance and expertise to expand their product line beyond basic protein to include a delicious and nutritious protein shake mix.
Through some in-person team brainstorming, we hatched a concept for a flagship product. We worked remotely to source new ingredients, and assisted them to build new relationships with reliable suppliers we had vetted.
We proceeded to formulate, bench top test, perform shelf-life and stability tests, calculate costing considerations, and sent samples for approval of the final formula.
We remotely directed the plant trial via video conference, and reviewed samples from the trial and made adjustments required after scale-up. We met with the team again in person to wrap up the project, making sure all questions or concerns were addressed and everyone was happy with the final product.
We then provided guidance to optimize their current manufacturing capabilities to accommodate larger scale production in future.
We produced the health food startup’s best-selling product, and built a lasting working relationship.
The result has launched them into national markets, and we’ve continued support with troubleshooting along the way. Since the launch we’ve consulted again for a reformulation project (as the ingredient and client landscape evolves), and have been contracted to build out a line of products to continue the company’s growth.
